DAMATO is built for adults to be able to become excellent, regularly performing, high-level singers and actors without having to study or perform full time.
DAMATO is the hub of voice and performance science.
Our pedagogy draws from current research in vocology, motor learning, anatomy, and adult psychology. In our fundamentals classes, we use scaffolded instruction to support progress over time. In our performance classes, we take a learn-by-doing approach: jumping into performance processes and guiding students through learning on their feet.
Students receive direct, clear feedback grounded in vocal function, student empowerment and artistic reflection. Every session, class, and performance opportunity is designed to build skill that will lasts.
WHAT WE TEACH
1. Fundamentals Classes
Enroll in our 7-8 week learning-science driven, artist lead fundamental technique classes.
For adults starting, returning, or strengthening their foundations. These classes are welcoming to all levels- from “I’ve never sang in public” to “I’m a regular performer looking to develop stronger, reliable technique”.
For learning new disciplines, strengthening fundamentals, & starting at DAMATO
2. Vocal Performance Coaching
Evidence based coaching with professional singers and actors.
DAMATO Vocal Performance is music conservatory style- but once a week. Study with DAMATO’s carefully selected team of expert faculty in group and 1on1 settings to reach your performance goals faster. 3. Educational Performance Programs
Performance based classes for adults of all ages and skill levels.
Broadway Performance Lab: Designed to be very educational and a manageable, once a week commitment. Class includes lessons in musical theater acting and singing and intensive scene work that ends in a final performance.
MainStage Musical: A learn-by-doing program. There is not lesson-style teaching in the class. Rather, our faculty teach by leading you through a professional-style directing, choreographing, music directing etc musical theater process.
The name D’Amato means “beloved” in Italian.
It reflects the music that shaped our founder- Italian opera- and the kind of studio culture we build here. We believe that great performance work begins with a foundation of safety, care, and respect. Our students are not just welcomed- we do our best to get to know all of them and they are integral co-creators of our culture.

The essential foundation — an 8 class fundamentals program every singer should take at least once.
The Art of Singing is DAMATO’s core introductory program: an 8-week, in-person experience for singers of all genres. Through group-based learning and small cohort coaching, you’ll build the technical habits and artistic tools that strengthen every soloist’s development — while gaining confidence and comfort performing in front of others. With evidence-based teaching and a joyful, creativity-driven approach, this course becomes the foundation for all future study at DAMATO.
